Meet Jana | Katy Moms

Meet Jana! She’s a Katy mama of two and a rock star Camp Gladiator trainer in our community! We chatted with Jana about all things motherhood and her goal to help people live their healthiest lives!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Katy?

I was born in Houston and grew up in Rosenberg. When I was 10, my family moved to Katy and I have lived here ever since, which has been 23 years.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?

Bryson age 9 and Kaleb age 4

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I have lived within a 20 mile radius my entire life. Also, I do not like chocolate.

Favorite local things to do in Katy?

We love to do things with the kids. For indoor fun, we usually choose Altitude or Main Event. For outdoor fun, we love to go Mary Jo Peckham and the train park to play, fish, and feed ducks. We take a lunch out with us and have a picnic at the park as well.

What’s your favorite thing about Katy?

I love that Katy is so family oriented, the school district is great, and there are so many activities to do as a family, or for a fun date night with my husband.

Do you have a favorite family friendly restaurant in the area?

We love to go to Lupe Tortilla and Texas Borders. Both restaurants have an outdoor playground with tables that we can eat at while the kids play. The staff at both places are always friendly and very attentive as well.

What is your go-to activity for yourself for pampering or for fun?

I love to do anything active and outdoors. I love to bike ride, hike, take a run through the hill country, paddle board, and kayak. I also enjoy getting the occasional manicure and pedicure.

Funniest shortcut/routine for helping you through parenthood?

There are so many funny things about parenting. The one thing that is still a secret to all but me, even my husband, it would be hiding vegetables in different dishes. They all think they don’t like squash, zucchini, cauliflower, etc, but they actually do eat it and enjoy it!

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!

I am currently a Partner Trainer with Camp Gladiator, which is an outdoor group fitness program. My locations are in the Richmond area at Frost Elementary on M/T/Th at 4:45am and at Adolphus Elementary on M/T/Th at 7:45am and 9am.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

The communities in the Katy area very helpful because they are on social media sites, and the neighbors are very active and informative on them. Neighbors help others through these sites, and it has been a great way to promote business. People love to know what’s going on around them, and these sites do exactly that.

What is the best advice for juggling mommyhood and running a business (or volunteering, working, etc)?

Be organized and write everything down the minute you schedule it. Also, make a list for everything so you can cross it off as you get it done. Keep a planner on you at all times. Make sure you allot a certain amount of time each day for work, and a certain amount of time for the family. Try to get work done while the kids are sleeping.

What would you tell the old “You” before you had kids?

Take naps often. Enjoy your alone time and relax more. Slow down and enjoy your youth.
