Here at Katy Moms Network, we’re passionate about supporting local. Small Business Saturday is all about highlighting local businesses in the Katy area and keeping all of you in the know about the best businesses to check out!
This week we’re so excited to feature the talented woman, wife, and mama behind Glamfetti, an online party decor boutique, started right here in Katy, TX!
Founded out of her love for throwing a good, festive party and helping others celebrate in style, Tiffany launched her company in early 2016 and hasn’t slowed down since! Glamfetti specializes in helping you make the event you’re dreaming of become a reality. Over the last two years, Glamfetti’s growth has taken off with an expansive following and rave reviews across social media, new business ventures on the horizon, and products available online through FacebookAmazon and Etsy.
We got to chat with this awesome, inspiring Katy mama about her business, how she balances her growing career with raising littles, and how this community has helped her business thrive!

When did you start your business?

I’ve always loved to throw over the top parties but I officially launched in the beginning of 2016!

What was the inspiration behind starting your business?

You know how when you get really excited about something and you want to tell all your friends, family, or anyone who will listen? That’s how I feel about parties–I want you to have the BEST party you can! And knowing not everyone is crafty or has the time to get that perfect event they’re imagining (I mean, who hasn’t had their very own #pinterestfail?!) that’s where Glamfetti comes in! We offer unique and stylish party decor pieces that you can’t just buy off the shelf and will help you create that beautiful and put together event (or even photoshoot!).

Tell us a little bit about what you do, the goods you sell, the services you provided?

Glamfetti is a boutique online party decor store with products ranging from cupcake toppers to a DIY balloon garland kit (yes, I promise, it’s easier than it looks!). You can currently find us on Etsy, Amazon, and our website should be finished up in the next few months. Where are my Amazon Prime moms at?! I got your back!
A lot of our products, like our letter balloons, can double as photo props as well, and then be used again at the party–AMAZING! Staying on top of what’s trending and giving our customers a wide range of items to choose from is important to me so when I’m not putting together banners I’m designing. A bright sun filled room, my echo dot blasting out some top hits station, and my glitter yeti next to me is just a typical day in the office!

Name one thing that makes you unique in your space or industry?

Customer service is numero uno important to me! Whether it’s talking through a color scheme, trying to figure out the perfect size, or even working with a budget to find the perfect pieces–I love to help. I know how it is being on the other side as a customer and always try to go above and beyond so that our customers know they’re important to us and want to keep coming back for their next events!

What’s your favorite thing about being a business owner in Katy?

I love this city! I’m a little biased since I was born and raised here (go Tigers!) but can you blame me?! Seeing Katy grow over the past 10 years has been amazing–there is such a network of small business owners and everyone wants everyone to be successful. I can’t even tell you how many messages I get saying they’re local and want to support a small business. Y’all, that is incredible and makes me so proud to raise our kids here!

How has the Katy area community had an impact on your business?

Being a business owner in Katy has helped me meet so many people, even some that have turned into friends! How fun is that? Word of mouth and referrals is EVERYTHING in business so being able to meet friendly neighbors has had such a tremendous impact in our growth! Connecting with people has always come naturally for me (before launching Glamfetti I was a Corporate Strategy Recruiter) so it’s always fun when someone reaches out and says so and so referred them over. That’s how I know I’m doing something right!

What’s one thing you’d like to go back and tell the you before you were a business owner?

It’s okay to not know everything about everything. Starting a business is definitely a learn-as-you-go type thing, otherwise nothing would ever get done! I’m naturally the type that’s afraid to jump unless I know how deep the water is, what the temperature is, if something is going to eat me in the water (ha!) so learning to let go a little and not worry so much is a big one for me.

Advice for anyone wanting to start their own business?

Research, research, research! You need to be on top of trends, pricing, shipping, taxes, etc. I know, I know, that sounds scary but you CAN do it. Once you learn something you build on that foundation. And then build on that one so what once was hard is now second nature!

Tell us a little more about your background in the corporate world and what inspired you to make the jump to being an entrepreneur?

Before starting my own business I was a Corporate Strategy Recruiter—I worked with both strategy consultants and large companies like MasterCard and The Boston Consulting Group find experienced and educated individuals to work on their corporate strategy teams. Working with these highly intelligent and educated people inspired me think outside the box at myself and my goals. I always had a dream of working for myself and found something that I was equally passionate about—helping others!

What businesses or individuals inspire you the most?

I draw inspiration from other entrepreneurs. I love listening to podcasts while I’m working and someone that really inspires me is Marcus Lemonis. Most people recognize him from the show “The Profit”, on CNBC. He is always level headed in his decisions and believes in 3 things: people, product, and process. Every company, big or small, has to master these 3 areas to be successful!

When things get hard, what’s one thing you tell yourself to keep going when running a business?

You are stronger than you think. Seriously, that’s my mantra. I just replace the word when I need a reminder. You are smarter than you think. You are more creative than you think. YOU GOT THIS!

Future plans for your business?

This year we have started working with companies like Kendra Scott and Sephora by helping them style their events with things like our jumbo balloons and balloon garlands! It has been SO. MUCH. FUN and an area in our business we want to continue to grow!

How do you balance being a business owner and motherhood?

In the beginning it was HARD trying to figure out how to prioritize giving my son AND the business attention. At the time, our son was 9 months old and I pulled him out of daycare to cut back on expenses since we were launching a brand new company and I didn’t have my full-time salary anymore. I worked before he got up, during nap time, and after he went to bed. I was able to respond to messages while he was up, but that was really about it. Fast forward 2.5 years and we have another little boy, but they are both in daycare full-time! Mama gets to focus on the business during the week and they get to socialize and learn in their classes. It works perfectly for us while giving me designated work time when everyone is at work/school so the weekends and after work are our family time!

Any special, sales, or deals our Katy Moms can look out for?

YES! It’s my birthday on Sunday, so I’m spreading the celebration to everyone with 32% off (can you guess how old l’m turning?!) your ENTIRE order with code “HELLO32”!
