Meet A Mom: Amy - Katy Moms
Meet Amy Lookabaugh, Realtor with Cinco Ranch Realty

Happy Labor Day, Mamas! Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy, a Katy mama of two precious boys and realtor with Cinco Ranch Realty Group.
Cinco Ranch Realty Group is a local family owned real estate company serving Katy, Houston, and surrounding areas. Amy’s husband served in the US Navy, so they are Veteran Owned and Operated. They pride themselves on outstanding customer service being their number one goal and strive to exceed clients expectations by providing fluent communication all throughout the home buying and selling process. They also give back to the military community by rebating a portion of their commission at closing to their military clients. The Veteran rebate is their way of saying “Thank You” for your service.
Amy is passionate about Real Estate and helping families make the biggest decision of their life, buying their dream home. She leads with a family-first approach in business and makes her clients feel she’s there for them every step of the way.
We got to chat with this hard-working Katy mama about her career in Real Estate, her favorite thing about raising a family in Katy, and how she balances a busy career with raising littles.

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Katy?

I was born and raised in Katy, and was so blessed to grow up here until I left for College. After I graduated from college, I lived in downtown for a few years. As soon as my husband and I decided to expand our family, we knew the burbs would be the perfect place for us! We have lived in Cinco Ranch almost 2 years.

How many kiddos do you have and how old are they?

I have two amazing, wild, and loving little boys. My youngest, Grant, will be 2 years old soon and Wyatt is about 3 ½. They are 17 months apart and wow is that fun! They are the best of friends, and can almost pass for twins!

Name one thing people would be surprised to know about you.

I’m kind of OCD and need structure, schedules and organization constantly! When I cook, I am cleaning at the same time! Maybe that’s why cooking is a challenge for me?! Thank goodness my husband is an amazing cook!

Favorite local things to do in Katy?

We love to try new restaurants and explore the city! We are looking forward to all of the Fall events Katy has to offer around the holidays.

What’s your favorite thing about raising a family in Katy?

It’s HOME for me! The schools are exceptional and there are so many kid friendly activities and community events that keep the kids active and keep us involved.

Do you have a favorite family friendly restaurant in the area?

Our family LOVES Mexican food! We usually go to Lupe Tortilla and sit outside if it’s not too hot. They have a nice outdoor play area for the kids, and we can enjoy a margarita! Win win!

What is your go-to activity for yourself for pampering or for fun in Katy?

A nice glass of red wine and some reality TV is living for me! I also love all of the local Katy clothing boutiques – some of my faves are Southern Divas Boutique and Hippie Princess. It’s amazing what a new top or dress can do for this girls confidence! Oh snap!

Funniest shortcut/routine for helping you through parenthood?

Music! Lots of music and dancing in our house. When the boys are acting crazy and need to burn some energy – I turn on some tunes which occupies them for a little while so I can get dinner on the table or fold some laundry. Thank GOD for Justin Timberlake! lol

Best mom hack that makes your life easier on the daily?

Smoothies are the best for getting my picky eaters to eat veggies! Costco sells a big bag of frozen berries and kale that are packaged into single servings. It’s super healthy and easy. Everyone I know orders their groceries online these days. I am finally going to order my groceries online and see how that goes…surely that will make my life easier! Right?

When did you do before you went into Real Estate and why do you choose this career path?

I graduated college from Texas State University and later received my Master of Business Administration from Texas Woman’s University. My education allowed me great opportunities in Healthcare Compliance/Auditing but I never felt like I was on the right career path and was not very passionate or content with my job. Real Estate has always been calling me, and I finally jumped in! My husbands mom is an Agent and Broker so she has been grooming me for years! After having my own personal experience building homes and selling homes, and loving the process, I knew it was my destiny! I hit the ground running and haven’t looked back for a second.

Cinco Ranch Realty is a family business, tell us what sets you guys apart from so many in the industry in Katy.

My husband served in the US Navy – we are Veteran Owned and Operated. We are family owned and not affiliated with any large Brokerages.  We serve our clients all over the Katy and Houston area. Outstanding customer service is our number one goal. We strive to exceed our clients expectations and provide fluent communication all throughout the home buying and selling process. We also give back to the military community by rebating a portion of our commission at closing to our military clients. The Veteran rebate is our way of saying “Thank You” for your service.

You see to have a family-first approach to the way you run your business, but also provide high class service to your clients! Explain your approach to doing business and how being a mom has made you better at your job.

We enjoy getting to know our clients and building lifelong friendships. This isn’t just a career for us. We have so much passion about what we do, and we want to make our clients lives better as a result of being their Realtor. We always answer the phone and always over communicate! As a mom, I can relate to so many families relocating in and out of Katy, looking for good schools, looking to raise a family, and just an overall exceptional family oriented community.  All of the same reasons why my husband and I put our roots down in Katy.

What is the best advice for juggling mommyhood and running a business?

It takes a village, or an Army as we say in our household. Mostly importantly, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Our kids grow up so quickly, so celebrate the little moments and note the big ones. Focus on every day moments that spark a little magic in your day.

Who most influenced you to be the mom you are?

Definitely my mom! She was a chemistry teacher at Katy High School for over 30 years. She is seriously the smartest and most patient person I know. Wish I could say she passed on those amazing traits to me, but I wasn’t as fortunate. Haha! She encouraged my sister and I to chase our dreams no matter what, and never settle.

Best advice for working mothers and handling the dreaded ‘mom guilt’?

We are not superhuman and unfortunately there is only one of us. DO NOT COMPARE other moms to you. Everyone’s situation is different. Make the time you have count! Lots of cuddle time!

When parenting gets tough, what’s something you tell yourself that keeps you going?

Tomorrow is a new day! Haha…as cliché as it sounds, sometimes as moms with hectic schedules we just need to take it day by day. Another short answer is our Faith – We are Christians, believe in God, and say A LOT of prayers. We know God has a big master plan for our business and our family, and we are so very fortunate for the path he has paved thus far.

What would you tell the old “You” before you had kids?

Don’t sweat the small things because life’s most rewarding, challenging, and greatest adventures haven’t even begun. Hang on tight!
