To be able to capture someone’s whole heart with a camera, to give someone moments in time – beautiful memories, captured with a few clicks and snaps – that will then be treasured forever is an incredible gift. And that’s exactly what these 8 Katy-area photographers do. They capture our hearts with their cameras and they share their gift with so many in our community. The Houston area is full of gifted photographers, but we think Katy, TX harbors some of the very best. These women, most of them mothers themselves, took a passion and a talent and turned it into a business – a business that blesses others. Here at Katy Moms Network, we stand in awe of the photographers we’ve come across and those who’ve taken photos of our family, celebrations, and milestones throughout life. The way we feel when we look at the pictures these photographers have captured of some of our most memorable seasons in life, is one of the best feelings and something I know all these talented women strive to do. They want you to feel something when you look at a photo they’ve taken. Feel the love you feel for your family or your significant other, feel the connection between two siblings, or the awe between a mother and her newborn – that raw, honest, heartfelt emotion.

Anne Schmidt has been documenting the lives of people with her camera for over fifteen years. Her past experience as a photojournalist and wedding photographer gave her the skills to observe and capture real life moments that portray honesty and heartfelt emotion. That skill has translated into her current work documenting births and family life.
 
Anne’s family sessions are a perfect combination of the classic family portrait to hang on the wall while also documenting the playful moments and dramatic child portraits that parents love. Originally from Maine, Anne moved to Katy four years and is proud to be part of the expat community. She lives in Cinco Ranch with her husband and two young daughters.

Carola (or Carol for short) is a mom first… She finds her daily inspiration in her 3 boys’ smiles and laughter. She is also totally in love with her husband and is thankful for his support throughout her photographic journey. Her family is what makes her move forward and her motivation in everything she do.
 
Although Carol has a MSc. in Chemistry, she’s always loved photography and started to study more seriously while she lived in Mexico in 2005. However, her passion grew when her first son was born as she wanted to keep every little moment in her memory forever…and the best way to do it was getting back behind the camera. In 2012, after having many requests for pictures from friends and family, Carol decided to start Carol C Photography.
 
Carol likes sessions to be light and cheerful to get honest and beautiful pictures. Her goal is to make you feel at home and relaxed and to obtain the best out of your time together. She’s looking forward to having the privilege of turning those special moments into lasting memories. Carol loves how pictures can freeze the present and how they also can help illustrate the past to younger generations. As a mother herself, she knows those first years and their milestones past by very fast and how important is to have them documented.
 
Carol specializes in Newborn, Maternity, Children and Family photography, but she also does professional head shots, and likes to do landscape and nature photography as a hobby.

Heather Armijo is a mom of six, so she knows firsthand how quickly we move through the stages of our lives. Heather’s desire to capture her kids through photographs is what led her to becoming a professional photographer. Heather specializes in newborn photography and all the excitement that surrounds this stage – from your pregnancy to Baby’s first birthday.
 
Since choosing newborns as her specialty, Heather has invested in online workshops and hands-on mentoring with the top newborn photographer in the country. Her photographs are bright, clear, honest and focus on her subject(s). Heather strives to capture the personality, emotions, interactions and details of her clients.
 
She loves getting to know her clients and being a part of their lives. She believes there is nothing more rewarding than having clients come back to HAP for photographs year after year. With over 6 years of experience in business, you can rest assured, your babies and your memories are in good hands! Heather wants your portrait experience to be just that – an experience! Katie is the owner & photographer of Light & Matter Photography. She started her business because she has ALWAYS loved photography. For as long as she can remember, she had a camera with her at all times. Katie eventually decided to take the leap and turn her passion into a photography business and she has never looked back. She truly loves every single moment of any type of session she photographs. Katie’s photo sessions focus on a lifestyle approach to family documentary. Lillian Walcott is a natural light photographer who specializes in children, maternity, high school seniors, and family photography.  She started off as a momtographer, a mom who take excessive photos of her kids. After friends and family members contacted her numerous times asking if she was a photographer, Lillian decided to invest into becoming a professional photographer by completing photography workshops and classes.
 
Lillian serves Katy and the surrounding Houston areas, and provides studio and on-location photography services.

Samantha Schaub is an on-location, natural light, modern, lifestyle, and portrait photographer with a focus on timeless portraits and a meaningful experience for her clients. She enjoys capturing candid moments. Lifestyle photography is her favorite – capturing the love, the fun, the joy, and the emotions that make up a relationship. She of course hopes people love the images they see after the session, but Sam also hopes they enjoy the experience. She’d hate for a couple or family to leave their session having felt awkward or uncomfortable the entire time. Sam wants to be thought of as a friend and not some stranger you can’t wait to be done with. She gets especially excited when she has clients come back to her as their relationship and family grows!
 
Capturing images has been very important to Samantha for as long as she can remember. Her mom never kept baby books for her or her brother, instead she chose pictures and videos as her medium for memory keeping. Now she gets to capture precious moments in a similar fashion, both for her clients and for her own family. Sam took a black & white film developing course as an elective back in college where she learned the technical aspects of the camera along with basic composition techniques. She started out taking pictures for her friends, when they got engaged or pregnant, and then their families. She started charging for her work as she became more comfortable with the spontaneity and quickness that’s necessary for lifestyle photography – especially with kids!
