Meet A Mom: Liz Landry

Hey mamas, it’s Meet A Mom Monday! And we’re so excited to introduce you to Liz Landry. She’s a wife, mama, and powerhouse go-getter behind a team of 40+ women that she directs and mentors at LimeLife by Alcone.
We got to sit down with Liz to talk about everything from motherhood, how her skin and makeup are always on point, her joy of being a mama, and how she balances it all with running a successful, growing business!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Katy?

I am from Lafayette, Louisiana and we moved to the Katy area in August of 2013.  Crazy how fast time flies by when you have kids!

How many kiddos do you have and how old are they?

One amazing little girl named Harper and she is five years old. Getting close to 6! We moved to Katy when she was an infant and now we are in kinder. Blows my mind!

One thing you wish someone would have told you about motherhood?

Patience is a virtue and you need to build up your tank because kids will suck it out of you.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I can sing and play the piano. I was a competitive classical pianist and a worship leader in college.

Favorite local things to do in Katy?

Dinner in La Centerra while Harper plays with friends in the green space. Exploration Park in Cinco Ranch. Food & wine events at local breweries and fundraisers. And in the summer we love Typhoon Texas!

What’s your favorite thing about raising a family in Katy?

There is so much to do with kids and the schools are excellent!

Do you have a favorite family friendly restaurant in the area?

Lupe’s Tortilla when the weather is great to sit outside and let Harper play in the sand pit.

What is your go-to activity for yourself for pampering or for fun?

Working out at Define Katy or HIP Fitness, Massages by Lisa at Wells Chiropractic in Sugar Land…she is amazing!! And wine & cheese with friends at Cheese Bar!

Funniest shortcut/routine for helping you through parenthood?

If you can get past the poop part in potty training….you can do anything mommas!!

Tell us about your business with Limelife, when and why you started, and the inspiration behind it!

I have always been a beauty & skincare junkie and when Limelife by Alcone started blowing up my newsfeed I decided to try it out.  I was actually a customer for a few months and then signed up for a discount.  It’s become truly more than the makeup and skincare. The new friendships, my amazing customers, and my team are truly a community that I wanted and needed.  A few months later after I said yes, I had a team of 35 plus women in 7 states. God has truly blessed me! But the main reason behind my why in Limelife (besides the products are amazing) is that it is an amazing thing to sit down with a woman, especially a mom, and make her feel better about looking at herself in the mirror. As moms we often don’t have time for ourselves and our needs get put behind our kids. I firmly believe that I can make a small difference by helping a  woman look at herself with a little more love and being a little more gentle on herself. The world reminds us enough that we aren’t an airbrushed model magazine or a celebrity with a team for makeup and hair. Makeup is powerful and can do some amazing things. If I can help someone feel more confident and love themselves more, than I am doing something good. If I can put that shine back in someone eye that my five year old has when she is playing in my makeup studio, then that’s enough for me. That’s my why!

Have you always been this knowledgeable about beauty, skincare, and makeup?

I have always loved makeup and skincare.  I didn’t grow up with Youtube and Instagram. I learned from my sister-in-law who worked at MAC while in hair school how to do basic stuff.  My knowledge has grown a lot since I joined Limelife.  It is a lot of fun and I find doing color matches for my clients like therapy.  I do have a full time medical sales job in weight loss surgery too covering 3 states so momma is busy!

Best makeup tip for busy moms who have only 10-15 minutes to put on a good face?

Good makeup starts with good skincare so pay attention to that first. Exfoliate your skin and treat yourself to masks at night.  We can accomplish a full face in less than 15 minutes but concealer, lip gloss, mascara or eyeliner are a must do.  Also invest in good brushes and a makeup sponge.

Secret to good brows? (we think yours are the bomb!)

Well mine are actually micro-bladed so I can thank Carrie in Fort Worth and Alex Hein in the Heights for my strong brow game.  I still use Limelife brow gels which are amazing and so easy to use.  The formulation looks like brow strokes!

How has the Katy community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

The Katy community is amazing and coming from Louisiana there are so many friends from back home that you re-connect with.  I believe it is instrumental to make mommy friends for your own sanity and play dates for your kids, find a good gym or fitness center to help manage stress and post-baby bod, and find a good home church is very important.  We love our church family at Church of the King Katy.

Best advice for moms who experience the inevitable and dreaded MOM GUILT?

You are not alone. We all have it.  Make time for yourself for both alone time and for friendships with other women.  Community is one thing that many women are hungry for and true friendships.  Show up for your friends too. We often lose ourselves when we become moms and we all know happy wife means happy life for your home.

Who has most influenced you to be the mom you are today?

My own mom who let her life revolve around her four children, her faith, and church.  She didn’t take girls trips, have family around to help out, and her family was her life.  So when I complain about not having family close, I have to think about my own mother.

I also admire my friend Macy who is a rockstar realtor in Katy as a mom and a wife.  I like to ask her advice on kids and marriage as she does marriage and mommy hood with so much grace.  Her children are so well behaved that I hope she can rub some of her experience on me.

When parenting gets hard, what’s something you tell yourself that gets you through?

I think of how much love and grace God gives to me and how parenting should reflect that no matter how much your kids don’t listen or drive you bananas.

Name one thing you hope your kids look back and remember about their childhood and you as their mama?

That despite my business and career, my priority was being a mom.

What would you tell the old “You” before you had kids?

Enjoy sleeping in, girl! And take trips with friends & adult only vacations.  Go on more trips out of the country and see as much as you can.
