The Business of Doing Good | Katy Moms

We thought we’d do something a little different today, with our Small Business Saturday feature, and highlight some women who are simply in the business of doing GOOD.
The Cane Island Community loves to give back. They’re simply a group of neighbors who want to reach out to other neighbors to help when help is most needed. They bring assistance to people in need and help local charities throughout the year. And this year all their proceeds are going to Caring 4 Katy.
All of this started earlier this year when a few moms were having a glass of wine and talking about ways they could help more families in the community. They decided to put that will to help into action and quickly decided to find a local non profit to partner with in order to raise funds to help families close to home. After interviewing a few amazing non profits in the area, they ultimately decided to partner with Caring 4 Katy.
Founded in 2014, Caring 4 Katy, is a volunteer non-profit organization which supports families in Katy and the surrounding communities who have children impacted by life threatening illnesses. Their vision is to bring our community together, to ensure no family feels alone during a child’s illness or disability, while filling the families and children with hope about their future, and providing them assistance to endure their everyday needs.
The founders, both women who have amazing stories themselves, have made it their mission to financially, emotionally, and spiritually assist local families with children diagnosed with terminal or poor prognosis medical conditions.

Caring 4 Katy’s mission resonated so with these women, and soon after they started work on the Cane Island Dream Big Gala. These women, who’ve coined themselves The Cane Island Gala Gals, have already started raising funds for The Dream Big Gala that’s taking place next month. What a heart these women, all of them mamas, have for giving back!
The Dream big Gala will be held on Saturday November 10th at 7pm at the Cane Island Amenity Center. There will be dinner, dancing, live and silent auctions, and a night full of fun.The funds raised will go back into the local community, and to families– paying mortgages, hospital parking, Christmas gifts, car loans, and small home repairs. The goal is to keep families with their children when they are not well, so paying these bills helps alleviate the financial strain associated with these childhood diseases.
Here at KMN, we wanted to use our platform to raise awareness about these amazing organizations who are doing so much good in our community. We hope our voice and our heart for this mission will resonate with all of you and you’ll join us for a great evening can have a great turn out for an organization that does so much to give back.
