Meet A Mom: Macy | Katy Moms
Meet Macy Lima, Party & Event Stylist

We are suckers for a good party! And not being quite the creative, crafty moms ourselves, we value the party planning skills in others! That’s why we’re so excited to introduce you mamas to Macy Lima, Party & Event Stylist from Katy and mama herself to THREE!
After receiving such positive feedback from family and friends after she planned her sons baptism, Macy knew she was on to something. So in October of 2017, she decided to share her gifts with others, busting open the doors on her business, Macy Lima Decor.
Macy helps make your party dreams come true! Whether your event is big or small, she takes care of every detail so you can soak up and enjoy making memories with the ones you love!
We got to chat with Macy about her business, her best moms hacks (included a genius idea for keeping your car clean with kids!), and her favorite things about raising a family in Katy.

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Katy?

I was born in Maracaibo Venezuela but moved really young  to Toronto Canada. For years I went back and forth between both countries. Married a Texan and we moved to Katy in the summer of 2014.

How many kiddos do you have and how old are they?

I have three kids my Stepdaughter Ella 13,  my two rumbustious little boys, Noah who is 3 and Evan who is 2

One thing people would be surprised to know about you

I’m half Chinese. Unfortunately, I don’t speak Cantonese but I have no problem ordering food at any Cantonese speaking restaurants.

Whats your favorite thing about raising a family in Katy?

I love the diversity amongst its people. How my neighbors are Mexican, Lebanese, South African, Indian, Venezuelan And Chinese all on one street.  That multicultural environment that I grew up with in Toronto is very much in Katy too.

Do you have a favorite family friendly restaurant in the area?

We just discovered Hacienda Real in Cross Creek and the food is delicious. I’m also obsessed with a Venezuelan food truck called Pastel Pizza off Mason, it’s soooo good!

What is your go-to activity for yourself for pampering or for fun?

I love my biweekly mani/pedi. It’s really my time to unwind and just relax . For that hour I feel like an adult again! Ha!

Funniest shortcut/routine for helping you through parenthood?

Rotisserie chicken from HEB makes dinner simple and healthy!

Best mom hack that makes life easier?

Garbage bag in the car for ALL the mess our little ones leave us moms to pick up.

Tell us about your business and how you got started.

My company Macy Lima Decorations is an event styling and coordinating business. We decorate parties any theme big or small. Our job is to make that party you dream about come to life and make it better than what you imagined. Our goal is that your guests will be talking about how fabulous the party was weeks after your event happened.  I started this company last year in October 2017.   It began after I planned my son’s baptism, the feedback was just so great from family,  friends and vendors.  Weeks later I met with one of the vendors for coffee and she kept trying to convince me that I really had to start doing this as a business.  I eventually listened to her and never looked back. I love it!

Whats one thing that makes your business unique in the party planning/decor space?

From over the top kids parties to small intimate gathering I enjoy adding special personalized details to every single event. I make sure I understand very well my clients taste and dislikes and I work very close with my vendors to make sure I not only deliver with what the client is expecting but always try to add a wow factor for them and their guest.

How has the Katy community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now, as a mom and in business?

I have made fabulous mommy friends that help keep me sane.  Through my company I have met many vendors all here in Katy that I now consider close friends. They understand my mommy and work struggles and have been such great supporters from day one.

Best advice for working moms who experience the inevitable and dreaded MOM GUILT?

It happens all the time especially because my boys are so little.  I think it’s important to show our kids that it is possible to find a job that we are  passionate about and makes us happy doing it.

Who has most influenced you to be the mom you are today?

My mom, even though she died when I was a teenager. She helped me understand that family comes first no matter what.  I was the youngest of 5 and she made every single one of us feel so special.  The other two people my sisters.  They run their business and manage their houses and I’m always amazed and proud to have them as my older siblings.

When parenting gets hard, whats something you tell yourself that gets you through?

The days are long but the years are short. Oh and I literally say this to myself a couple of times throughout the day “Macy, BREATHE.”

Name one thing you hope your kids look back and remember about their childhood and you as their mama?

I hope they remember all the love I poured into every single one of their milestones because I want them to grow up knowing that life should be celebrated.

What would you tell the old You” before you had kids?

Sleep In!!!! Take more vacations with your friends , your husband and alone. Enjoy and chew your “warm” meals.
