Meet Sandy Salas, Owner & Designer at Pretty In Pink Cups

One of the most asked questions we get on Instagram: “Who made those amazing wine tumblers for you!?” And it gives us such joy to shout from the rooftops that it’s none other than the beautiful, talented Sandy Salas with Pretty In Pink Cups!
She’s a Katy mama and makes the most beautiful custom cups! You can dream it, this mama can do it!

Sandy quit her full-time job in corporate American to spend more time with her kiddos and ultimately decided to start this business where she gets to create custom pieces for people all across the country.
We love to support mama owned businesses, especially when they’re local, and Sandy is as sweet as she is talented. We got to interview her about all things mama life and her growing business!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the Katy area?

I have lived in Houston my whole life.  I lived in cypress for 5 years and now in Katy for 5 years.

How many kiddos do you have and how old are they?

I have a 6 year old daughter and a bonus baby ( stepdaughter ) who is 16 years old.

What’s your favorite thing about raising a family in Katy?

I love Katy ! The schools, the stores and the activities.  Everything is very close to us specially the water park!

Least favorite mom job? (i.e. packing lunches, dishes, bath time, etc.)

Least favorite mom job would definitely be washing dishes after cooking a family meal! I’m sure all the ladies can agree lol

Best mom hack that makes life easier?

Amazon Dash/ prime! Anything to avoid running in and out of stores all the time!

What are your favorite local things to do in Katy? (with kiddos or just for mom!)

Main event and glow zone are places we frequently visit with the kids. For mommy time I love the nail salon, Nail trends.

We’re big on self-care for moms, as hard as it is to find the time, what’s something you do just or yourself?

Having a nice bath with a glass a wine . Simple but always works so I can still hear if any craziness is going on in the house- ha!

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I quit my full time job in the corporate world to start my small business from home so I can spend more time with my family.

Tell us about your business, Pretty in Pink Cups! When did you start making custom glitter tumblers?

I started making tumblers 3 years ago and it’s such a passion of mine! I love creating unique pieces for people.

What different products do you offer?

I offer tumblers, key chains, coasters, earrings, glittered  ornaments ( Christmas), phone accessories. And caps are soon!!

Have you always been creative and artistic? When did you first realize you had this talent for making beautiful tumblers?

Yes I always have been very hands on planning kids birthday parties. I would make my own decor etc.  We were going on a cruise and browsed around and saw a few I wanted that were a bit pricey and I need 6 .so I decided to buy the supplies and make our own . I posted them on social media and the rest is history.  Orders keep coming in. It’s been a blessing!

What did you do before starting your business?

I worked as a executive assistant to a CEO of a company.  I have worked in the corporate world since I graduated.

Best advice for moms who experience the inevitable and dreaded MOM GUILT?

Do not feel guilty!  Try to find a balance in spending family time and constantly remind your babies that you love them.

Who has most influenced you to be the mom you are today?

My mom,  she always put my siblings and I first.  She worked but still managed to pick us up from school and do stuff with us when she could. She worked a lot and had 3 kids.

When parenting gets hard, what’s something you tell yourself that gets you through?

To breathe! Take a little break and then come back and be their mom!

What would you tell the old “You” before you had kids?

It’s not easy but it’s the best thing that will happen to you! I wouldn’t trade my kids for the world.

What are your future plans for Pretty in Pink Cups?

I plan to gradually add more items. I get request for different items all the time and I might just start adding them. Would want to be a one stop shop for custom items!
