Toddler Towns is Houston’s original Soft Play Rental Company that delivers a safe, fun, and creative atmosphere directly to you! Their Soft Play Towns can be set up in any indoor/outdoor environment including homes, gyms, classrooms, pre-schools, and special event venues. With a variety of equipment from ball pits to crawl tubes, tunnel mazes and more, they guarantee to keep children entertained for hours in imaginative and exploratory play.
Owners Angelita Brinkley and Sonia Robles go way back. They’re sister! The idea for the company was inspired by Angelita’s toddler, Zen. She was approaching her second birthday at the time, and they just couldn’t find something age appropriate that could be rented out in a private setting.
They knew Zen loved the soft play equipment at The Houston Children’s Museum, but could not find a company who would rent their area for private parties. After searching, and much googling the sisters realized that there was a need for this type of service. So the sisters sat in their living room for an entire Sunday brainstorming, and mapping out what is now Toddler Towns.
Angelita said the road to becoming business owners wasn’t always an easy journey, but it was something they both believed in from the start. That assured them they were on the right path. A quote Angelita read a quote once that continues to speak to her today: “ To be successful in business, find a need for something that you relate to, and bring it to life”
They have a passion for what they do, and it makes all the difference to the families they serve!
We got to chat with Angelita and Sonia about their business, one we were introduced to at a party a few months ago and just loved! We hope you find these women as inspiring as we do!
Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the Katy area?
We are both located in the Northwest part of Houston. We deliver to all over Houston and surrounding areas.
Do you have kids? 3 What are their ages?
Yes! Between us we have three- 21, 11 & 4
What did you do before becoming a business owner?
Angelita worked in the medical/aesthetics field. Sonia is an Accountant.
When did you start Toddler Towns, and what was the inspiration behind it?
We started about 2 years ago. We were inspired by the need of soft play for Angelita’s toddler’s birthday party. After much research we realized that Houston did not provide such entertainment.
Tell us all about the services Toddler Towns provides and the set ups you offer!
We offer soft play set ups for toddlers of all ages. Our “towns” are safe, fun and provide a creative atmosphere where toddlers can use their imaginations. We offer 3 different packages designed to fit any party size. Our Standard package is ideal for 4-6 kids.
Premium package is ideal for 10-12 kids, and Deluxe is ideal for 20+ kids. We currently have 2 themes – Rainbow and Enchanted. Our Dinosaur theme should be available by the end of November 2019.
Your soft play equipment would be perfect for any little’s birthday party! What other events would it be great for?
We also provide entertainment for larger public events such as Discovery Green Toddler Tuesdays and Hermann Park’s Annual Kite Festival. In addition, we have partnered with local communities to provide weekly playdates. Customers have also hired us for weddings and family reunions.
Advice for anyone wanting to start their own business?
Find something you are passionate about so that it keeps you creative in what you are doing and work never feels stagnant.
How do you balance being a business owner and mama?
Fortunate enough to own a business that is toddler related and kid friendly. A lot of times I’m able to bring me kids along for public festivals, which helps tremendously with not being around on weekends. Being in business with my sister also helps with creating a balance in our duties.
Do you experience the dreaded Mom Guilt? If so, how do you handle it?
It’s natural to have Mom Guilt, even if you aren’t a business owner. I think it’s important to give yourself a break and remember that we are all doing the best we can.
Future plans and dreams for your business?
We are planning to open an indoor soft play center and expand our mobile delivery service to become chains through out Texas.
