Jessica and Robbie Tannan are a husband and wife superstar team who started a business that takes one of the most dreaded household tasks off your plate…LAUNDRY.
Signature Sudz is a laundry service that comes to you and treats your clothes with the same care as you would! We’ve been working with Jessica & Robbie since we found out about them from another local mama friend and not only do we love their service, we love them as people!
Jessica & Robbie are busy parents to three little girls who understand how crazy (and messy!) life can get when juggling work and family. They sought to create a service that would make life a little easier for busy folks on the go.
With rave reviews online and a growing customer base, Jessica has expanded the business over the last year to include a larger service area and it’s been so fun to watch them grow.
We got to chat with this hard-working mompreneur about her business, her plans for the future, and how she balances it all!
When did you start Signature Sudz?
We started our business in February of 2017!
What was the inspiration behind starting your business?
After working in leadership for Whole Foods Market for over 12 years, both my husband and I wanted a change. We had been toying with the idea of opening a laundromat for a few years. We saw the huge popularity of services like Instacart and Uber Eats, and thought “Let’s combine a laundry service with a delivery service!”

Our service tackles one of the MOST dreaded household chores…LAUNDRY! We all have to do it, but most folks really hate it or simply don’t have the time. Our service includes pick up, delivery, detergents and hangers on all orders. Most orders are returned in just 24 hours! We also offer fluff & fold services for those mountains of clean clothes that have found their home on the chair next to the bed! We’ve recently added odor and stain treatment as well as handwashing! It doesn’t get much easier!
What did you do before you opened your business?
My husband and I both worked for Whole Foods Market. He was the Meat Department Associate Team Leader, and I was the Associate Team Leader for Guest Services. I also hold a BA in Musical Theater Performance from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in Los Angeles. When I’m not doing laundry, you may catch me at a show at TUTS!
Name one thing that makes you unique in your space or industry?
There aren’t many services like ours, but I truly believe that it’s all about Customer Service. With our background in retail, my husband and I have a great appreciation for providing a unique experience for our clients. Also, it doesn’t hurt that I’m a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to folding and color blocking!
What’s your favorite thing about being a business owner in Katy?
I love being able to spend time with my family while helping other families enjoy more time together. After all, no great story ever began with “this one time, in the laundry room…”
How has the Katy area community had an impact on your business?
We originally just offered our services in our neighborhood, but we’ve actually expanded our delivery area to include Katy due to the overwhelming interest in the services we provide! It’s been pretty amazing!
What’s one thing you’d like to go back and tell the you before you were a business owner?
Just do it! Don’t let fear keep you from trying!
Advice for anyone wanting to start their own business?
Be prepared! Do your homework on your industry and find a way to stand out.
When things get hard, what’s one thing you tell yourself to keep going when running a business?
I always remember that I’m working to create a better life for my family. I have 3 daughters, and I want them to know that mommy never gave up! I want them to know that women can do ANYTHING!
How do you balance being a business owner, wife, and mama?
It’s a very delicate balance, but my hubby is amazing! He’s my business partner and life partner. It is definitely a team effort to manage our business and our household! But somehow we make it work!
Future plans for your business?
We hope to expand our service area and to offer dry cleaning services in the very near future!
