Zini’s Play Corner, An Event Daycare

Zini’s Play Corner is a Mobile Daycare in Richmond, TX owned by the sweetest, most nurturing woman, Ezinne Offordile. The people who love her and the kids she cares for at her in-home daycare, fondly call her ms. Zinnie.
Since May 2017, Zinnie has opened up her home to kiddos, creating a caring, enriching learning experience for all ages.
Her new business, Zini’s Play Corner, is your professional and reliable mobile daycare service. They provide on-site daycare and child care services for those hosting upcoming events with children attending and their goal is to make the parent’s life much easier by providing the entertainment and child activities for the kids to enjoy such as face painting, photo booths, story time, crafts, and more. They also bring child party decorations to match the theme of the event so that all the kids still fill included.

Zini’s Play Corner’s daycare services can help increase event attendance by allowing guests to stay longer and give all the parents peace of mind that their children are being well cared for.
All their staff members are infant and pediatric CPR/First Aid certified with a complete check as well. Their child care services provide the safety, fun, and convenience that you and your children deserve.

We got to chat with owner Ezinne about her business, dreams for the future, and how the community has impacted her business!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the Katy area?

I am originally from Nigeria and moved to the United States in 2007. 4 years ago, I moved into my own home in Richmond,TX where I run my home school.

Are you a mama, too? If so, how many kiddos and how old are they?

I am not yet a mama, but I consider myself a mama raising 12 kiddos in my home everyday!

What did you do before opening your business?

Before opening my business, I worked in a private elementary school as a pre-k teacher then I quit my job to start my homeschool in 2015. And this has been the best decision I ever made.

When did you launch your business and was it a smooth ride?

I launched Zini’s Play Corner January 2019 and with every business, I have had a few challenges and a lot of experiences that is helping me shape  me and my business to be better.

Tell us a little about your business and the inspiration behind starting?

Zini’s Play Corner is a luxury onsite, upscale childcare option for your events. We specialize in providing quality childcare, entertainment and fun for your kids while adults enjoy the event in the same venue but in a different room.

Zini’s Play Corner was birth from Zinnie’s Home School and the need to accommodate parents needs outside my home.  What better way to do this than to infuse a less structured, more playful environment into events especially weddings.

What makes your business unique?

What makes us unique are our qualities, we are professionals, caring, attentive, trustworthy, we sure know how to put on a party whether we have 1,5, 10 or more kids.
We are not in competition with anyone, I believe this city is big enough for everyone to succeed if you work hard and let your passion be your driving force.

If you could describe your business in just three words, what would they be?

Fun and Good times!

Have you always had a gift for caring for children?

I believe my parents saw something in me, the moment I was born and gave me my name Ezinne which actually means ‘Good Mother’. So yes I will say I’m gifted with caring for children.

Tell us about some of the events you’ve been to recently with your services?

In November 2019, I had the honor of working with my favorite Nigerian wedding planner in Houston. It was a wedding in Dallas, Tx and I was super excited when I got the call to take care of the kids and I was up for the challenge of driving my team to Dallas.
In recent times, I participated in Signature manors open house last month where I met with brides and their families and they were very interested in our service as we would be saving them from having to deal with the kids.

We’re giant advocates for supporting local! Tell us how the community has gotten you where you are now.

My community has been a big help as I utilize next door and post my information sometimes and have actually gotten some calls, so I’m hopeful that the more I put myself in the community and people know about this service, the more likely they are to support it.

Can you tell us the meaning behind your businesses name?

Zini comes from my name Ezinne (Good mother), Play because I love to play and that’s what we do and the Corner is because, when we play, we are away from the main entertainment or event.

Starting, building, and growing a business is hard. On your hardest days as a business owner, what do you tell yourself to get through?

I tell myself that every business has trying times and these are times/days we learn valuable lessons from and get better at what we do. Then I always call on my sweet Jesus, his mother Mary and my guardian angel to see me through.

Future plans for your business? Tell us those big dreams!

My goal is to be a BIG household name in Houston, Richmond, Katy and surrounding areas. I want Zini’s Play Corner to be on major news channels informing people on the value of our business and that we are not just baby sitters but we are the game changers for events.
I dream of when I will have multiple events in a weekend and have  a huge team of staff working those events and all I will have to do is manage and make sure every client (young or old) are happy and refer us to family and friends.
I’m excited to also add that we will be adding a new service to our business. We will be renting our soft play items for children’s party for those parents who won’t typically need our service, but might be interested in renting some of our soft toys.

Best advice for anyone wanting to open their own business?

Take that leap of faith, trust in God to help you then work hard and see your self grow.  Never give up when those trials and tribulations come because they will come, be prayerful, be patient and stay steady grinding. Always remember your purpose and your WHY…

Favorite thing about being a business owner?

Favorite thing about being a business owner is my ability to make my own decisions, make my own mistakes and learn from them then come out better. The best thing for me is doing what makes me totally and completely happy no matter who my client is and which business I am working on at the moment (Home School or Play Corner). Also my ability to be creative and innovative with my business.
