Small Business Saturday: Casa Vilora Interiors | Katy Moms
Featuring Veronica Solomon of Casa Vilora Interiors

Veronica Solomon is mama of two and the creative genius behind Casa Viloa Interiors. Casa Vilora is a luxury design firm based in Katy, TX with flexible, affordable options for the busy family! Veronica and team help people achieve their ideal version of luxurious living; blending it seamlessly with practicality and lifestyle needs.
We know first hand how talented this mama is, as she helped Natalie’s dad with some decorating when he moved from Oklahoma to Katy. From needing advice on where to hang things on a bare wall to a full renovation, she’s your gal. She’s professional, kind, and her years of expertise in working on such diverse projects makes her truly one of the best.

We got to sit down with the beautiful Veronica to learn more about her business, how growing up in Jaimaca is where she still draws inspiration, and what keeps her inspired!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the Katy area?

I am from Jamaica. I lived in Florida for 10 years and moved to Katy in 2006, so I have been here for about 14 years

You’re a mama, too! How old are your kiddos and what are their names?

My daughter Courtney is 22, my son Joshua is 18

What did you do before opening your business?

I was in banking for a number of years, customer service and eventually worked for a homebuilder as a project Coordinator.

When did you launch your business and what was the inspiration behind it?

I launched my business in 2007. The inspiration having to provide for my family after being laid off

Tell us about Casa Vilora and what makes it unique!

We are the region’s only design firm that truly embraces the concept that good design is for everyone. We believe everyone has their own version of luxury, therefore, we are committed to meeting clients where they are in their pursuit of a beautiful, functional and comfortable home. We achieve this through our flexible menu of design services which makes good design accessible to anyone who desires it at a price point that works for them. Our clients range from consultancy clients needing some guidance, to DIY clients needing a plan, to full scale remodeling and high-end clients who needs it all done for them on a turn-key, concierge level.

We love how diverse your offerings are! Do you design these to help with any budget and project?

Yes, my previous response may have helped to answer this as well – we truly believe that good design is for everyone, and so we offer various service options at various price points to make good design accessible to everyone

If you could describe your business in just three words, what would they be?

Heart-centered, client-centric, luxury within reach

What’s your favorite thing about what you do?

Educating clients about the process of interior design and helping everyday people enjoy and truly live in their home.

We’re giant advocates for supporting local! Tell us how the Katy community has gotten you where you are now.

I don’t think I could have built a successful business without my community. I work hard to support local businesses and artisans who also operate at a high level. Most of my business comes from Katy residents and this is why I am dedicated to meeting every client where they are and provide value to help them achieve their dream of a beautiful home

What’s been the biggest challenge in launching into owning your own business?

It took some years to really understand that a  big part of running a successful business is actually running a business with systems and processes in place. I was too focused on the creative side and not enough on the business side  in the early years and my business struggled as a result

Future plans for your business?

I am looking to move locations to a bigger space with a warehouse to expand the procurement side of my business. I am also looking to hire and further develop my mentorship programs to young designers.

Who inspires you most in business and entrepreneurship?

I love Sandi Krakowski, Gary Vaynerchuk and Brook Castillo

Best advice for anyone wanting to open their own business?

Approach business with a good mindset – that is the biggest thing that will determine if you succeed or fail. Understand from the beginning that business will require some hard work and consistency and to keep moving even when it gets difficult.

Favorite folks in the design world to follow?

Greg Natale, Michelle Nussbaumer, Ken Fulk, Martyn Bullard, Miles Redd

What’s one thing you’d like to go back and tell the you launched this business?

Faith is great, but save up some money next time!

Best advice for a mom who doesn’t consider herself good at decorating or has a super small budget?

Invest in even a 2 hour session with a good designer. A good designer will help you with a plan, some guidance, take away some of the overwhelm, help you determine your style, help you figure out what trends to avoid and so much more. That investment of $250 to $500 will pay off in spades.

Any special, sales, or deals our Katy Moms can look out for?

I am promoting a “Fall In Love With Your Home” session for February in honor of Valentine’s Day – 2 hour deep dive decorating session for $450
