We got to talk with owner and physician Dr. Moncenya Chatman who’s a mama herself about her business, plans for the future, and what keeps her inspired!
As a provider of prenatal care for many expectant mothers for over 15 years, and as a mother herself, Dr. Moncenya knows the excitement and anticipation surrounding this time in your lives. She’s had had the opportunity to watch ultrasound technology and prenatal imaging transform the pregnancy experience and she wanted to give this gift to mothers in Katy!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the Houston area?
A Mobile, Alabama native who’s been in the Houston area for 13 years.
Are you a mom, as well? If so, how many kiddos and what are their names?
I am! The proudest mother of Miss Lailah Rose Dawson (6).

What did you do before opening the business and when did you open the doors on Stork Vision here in Katy?
I am still a practicing physician specializing in obstetrical care in the Houston area. We opened our doors in August 2019.
Favorite thing about being a business owner, specifically catering to mamas to be?
Seeing the reactions of parents-to-be (and the entire family) when seeing the new addition(s) for the first time.
We’re giant advocates for supporting local! Tell us how the Houston community has gotten you where you are now.
Living in Houston, I have had experiences that helped to broaden my aspirations. I am not one-dimensional. I can be a mother, wife, physician, and an entrepreneur. Here, we can have our families and make our dreams come true too!
Future plans for your business?
Growth into a larger location – and adding an additional location to more conveniently serve the Katy/West Houston community.
Best advice for anyone wanting to open their own business?
Have patience in your expectations. Continue to build your business, even when faced with unforeseen challenges – it’s all a part of the journey!
What’s been your biggest challenge in opening and running your own business?
Having the discipline to understand your efforts compound over time – nothing happens overnight.
What’s one thing you’d like to go back and tell the you launched into entrepreneurship?
Understand today’s marketing strategies, including leveraging the power of social media.
When things get hard, what’s one thing you tell yourself to keep going?
Keep going – have faith, not fear – just keep going.
Who most inspires you in business or entrepreneurship?
Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama
How do you balance being a business owner and your busy family life?
I don’t – just kidding… Sort of. My husband has been very supportive, but every entrepreneur with a family knows how hard it can be some days. We communicate, motivate, and then execute.

You bet! Monthly specials are available for all moms – including photos, DVDs, and heartbeat animals to capture the precious moments!
