Meet A Mom: Lillian Walcott | Katy Moms
Meet Lillian Walcott, talented Katy area photographer and mama!

If you are looking for a natural light photographer to capture portraits of your family and located right here in Katy then look no further, we have a mama for you.

Lillian Walcott is a local mama photographer who specializes in children and family photography. She started as a momtographer, a mom who takes excessive photos of her kids, but after friends and family members contacted her numerous times asking her to photograph them, she decided to invest into becoming a professional photographer (part-time) by completing photography workshops and classes.

During the week, Lillian is a project safety engineer, so photography allows her creative side to slow freely. And let us just say, one look at her work, she’s got so much talent running through her veins.

We got to chat with this creative, gorgeous woman more about her business and why she loves Katy!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the Houston area?

I am originally from the DFW area. I have lived in the Houston area for 7 years.

How many kiddos do you have and how old are they?

I have two kids. They are 5 years old and 10 years old.

What’s been the biggest gift in motherhood for you?

Witnessing my little girls grow up. It’s amazing how they have developed their own interests and talents.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I was a pole vaulter in college (North Carolina A&T State University). Aggie Pride!

Favorite local things to do in the Katy area?

Going to Typhoon Texas Waterpark and Cici’s Pizza on Fry road with my family.

What is your go-to activity for yourself for pampering or for fun?

Definitely my monthly massage appointment.

Best mom hack that makes life easier?

Hands down, a robot vacuum cleaner.

You are a beautifully talented photographer – when did you first realize you had not only a passion for photography, but also a gift?

After photographing my kids’ bluebonnet pictures. It was amazing how the flowers came to life after editing. I was also grateful the photos were shared by so many people, published in multiple blogs, and magazines.

When did you decide to make your craft a profession and what’s been your favorite thing in making it a business?

After attending a photography shootout in 2017 with other amazing photographers. Shout out to Traci Nieto Photography for convincing a newbie like me to join.

Name one thing about your craft that keeps you coming back for more.

I adore meeting new people and reuniting with previous clients, all while capturing lifetime memories.

We think diversity and representation of all races is so important in photography. Is this something you strive to do in your work?

Absolutely, without diversity, the world would be boring and as people we would not grow. I am a firm believer of diversity and inclusion.

What are some goals and dreams you have for your business looking into the future?

Travel to amazing places throughout the US and Caribbean while photographing families.

Best advice for working moms who experience the inevitable and dreaded MOM GUILT?

It’s beneficial as moms we continue to find time for ourselves to work on things we enjoy and have a passion for. Michelle Obama stated it best, “to be a good parent, you need to take care of yourself so that you can have the physical and emotional energy to take care of your family.”

Who has most influenced you to be the mom you are today?

Absolutely my mom. She had me as a teenager. Although she was young, she always made sure I received the best education and invested in my talents to ensure I continued to improve and become at mastery level in my talent.

When parenting gets hard, what’s something you tell yourself that gets you through?

I recite my favorite bible verses.

  • I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
  • Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5

Name one thing you hope your kids look back and remember about their childhood and you as their mama?

They are loved and they can achieve anything they invest their time in. “For nothing is impossible with God.”- Luke 1:37

Any local upcoming deals or special our mamas can look out for?

Mommy & Me Sessions and Bluebonnet Sessions.
