At Samon’s core, she truly wants to help your business thrive. Samon Tahir is the Founder & CEO of Digital Couture Marketing, a marketing agency aimed to help small businesses grow. From social media, to website design, brand development, to helping businesses with graphics, she’s a one stop shop for all things needed to help you thrive in a digital space.
I found Samon on Instagram and immediately fell in love with the ascetics of her website and social media channels. Everything was well thought out, unique, and beautifully organized. Samon is helping me with some Katy Moms graphics and one sheeters that I send to potential partners and one look at the first drafts, I am here to tell you she’s a talent!
Samon’s background is in higher education and it was never her goal to own her own business. However, she began to attend networking events for business owners that were hosted by her dad. It was a great opportunity to meet many different business owners and where she realized that so many of these business owners worked so hard on their businesses all the while neglecting to market their businesses online to a larger audience.
This was truly Samon’s a-ha moment as it was at this time that she realized that jer true calling was in marketing and that she could help many business owners with their marketing needs. This was the moment that she realized that starting her own marketing agency meant that her passion would finally meet her creativity.
I’m so excited to feature Samon today! See our full interview with this inspiring mama below!
Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the Katy area?
I am originally from Beaumont, Texas and then moved to Maryland after I got married! We moved to Katy about a year ago! We love the area so much!
How many kiddos do you have and how old are they?
I have two boys, Noah, 3 and Saif, 2, 22 months apart! And I have a Mini Golden-doodle (Teddy) who is 5!
What’s the biggest gift about being a mama for you?
The gift of motherhood is truly unexplainable. From day one, you’re taking on new challenges! I I truly don’t remember what I did with my time before becoming a mom. Being a mom is hard and so rewarding at the same time. Watching my boys grow is the biggest gift for me, because everyday they help remind you how life is really all about the little moments. I love my little besties.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I am deathly afraid of birds, I have no idea why!
Favorite local things to do in Katy?
- Eating at Hat Creek- I love the playground there!
- Hanging out with my bestie in the Cinco Ranch area!
- More eating- my husband and I love trying new food in the area! There’s so many options!
What is your go-to activity for yourself for pampering or for fun?
I love watching TV! At the end of the night, the kids are asleep, there is just nothing like it for me! My current favorite show is Manifest!
Best mom hack that makes mom life easier?
Keep an extra pair of clothes and shoes in your car at all times. You just never know when you’ll need them!
Tell us about your business, Digital Couture- how you got started, and what inspired you to start this business?
Looking back I realized that although I used to dread the idea of running my own business (largely out of a fear of failure), I realized that I was always helping my parents market their businesses. I regularly made flyers for their many businesses. I joined and attended the chamber of commerce in my home town to attend networking events to market their businesses in person. When in college, I always found myself coming up with and promoting many events for my sorority. Although I was really introverted growing up, I had found myself to be the president of my sorority because my passion to market events had turned me into an extrovert.
After returning to Texas with my husband and two kids (you can take a girl out of Texas, but you can never truly take Texas out of the girl… a lesson that my Maryland raised husband learned the hard way), I began to attend networking events for business owners that were hosted by my dad. It was a great opportunity for me to meet many different business owners and where I realized that so many of these business owners worked so hard on their businesses all the while neglecting to market their businesses online to a larger audience. This was truly my “eureka!” moment as it was at this time that I realized that my true calling was in marketing and that I could help many business owners with their marketing needs just as I used to growing up with my parents. Although I used to dread ever starting my own business, I get an indescribable feeling of joy in helping others succeed in their businesses. This was the moment that I realized that starting my own marketing agency meant that my passion would finally get to meet my creativity. Digital Couture Marketing is the genesis of when my passion finally did meet my creativity.
Did you always know you’d choose this career path and what makes you passionate about helping people grow their brands?
I actually never wanted to start my own business! My background is in higher education, I started off my career as an Academic Advisor, taught business at a community college, became a program coordinator! My passion was always being creative. I saw that there was a huge need for resources for small business owners that just don’t have the time to focus on the marketing of their companies and I was inspired!
What’s one thing that makes your business unique?
There’s no one solution for any two clients, every client has it’s own story. I don’t treat two businesses the same, I make sure each business has their own uniqueness and individuality.
Who is the perfect person or business for your services?
The perfect person for my business is someone that owns a small business and needs an helping hand with their social media! I offer social media management, 1:1 social media coaching sessions, and create graphics and flyers!
Biggest success story so far in your business?
One of my clients won the number one realtor on social media in their city! It was a very proud moment for me!
We’re big believers that motherhood is better when we do it together. How has your mama community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now, as a mom and in business?
When I first started, my mama community is what uplifted me. Other moms were my biggest supporters, their advice was extremely valuable, some of them were even my early clients! Moms helping moms was the foundation of my business.
Best advice for working moms who experience the inevitable and dreaded MOM GUILT?
Know your limits, know your emotions, scale your business appropriately. Your little ones are only going to be small for a limited time. I manage my business to make sure I have time to tend to my little ones.I know I won’t truly fully scale my business up until my kids are fully in school! Balance the growth of your business to your personal needs, don’t look at anyone else for an example!
Who has most influenced you to be the mom you are today?
My mom has been a big influence on the mom I am today! She’s always there for me to help guide me every step of the way! It’s a blessing to be able to have my mom’s guidance as I navigate being a mom!
When parenting gets hard, what’s something you tell yourself that gets you through?
It’s just a “bad” moment, and tomorrow is a new day!
What would you tell the old “You” before you had kids?
Nothing, live in the moment. There’s nothing I could’ve told myself to prepare for having kids. The journey thus far has taught me so much about myself and life in general.
