Introducing Lubna Jamal, Fusion & Luxury Dessert Creator
Lubna has always had a passion for baking and cooking. From a young age, she was experimenting with box mixes and canned frosting and eventually moved on to coming up with her own recipes, baking from scratch and sharing her creations with family and friends.
People loved her desserts and in 2016, she decided to start her own business! DecadencebyLubna was born out of encouragement from family and her husband and has evolved overtime! She started with cookies and cakes, and eventually started experimenting with fusion desserts. She says their Gulab Jamun Cheesecake is still a fan favorite!
Lubna is a home baker and prides herself on baking fresh, even in the hectic times of the holidays! One look at her products and your mouth starts to water and her raving customers continue to come back to her occasion after occasion.

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the Katy?
I was born and raised in Houston, TX! I used to live in the Spring/Tomball area for most of my life and moved to Katy after I got married in 2017.
You’re a mama to a sweet son! How old is he and what’s his name?
He is 3.5 years old and his name is Imaad!
What’s the biggest gift about being a mom?
Watching this wonderful boy grow up right in front of my eyes and having a mini best friend.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I love horror movies and intense thrillers! I also hate amusement park rides unless they are the water raft rides in Disney, because I am terrified of Heights!
Favorite local things to do in the Houston area?
We love to eat out, check out new coffee/boba shops, visit the many parks in the Katy area, and go to the Zoo! My son and I are big animal lovers.
What is your go-to activity for yourself for pampering or for fun?
Footworks Boutique in Katy has some amazing Foot Reflexology services that are so relaxing. Other than that I enjoy taking creative classes with my friends for fun, such at Pottery and in any additional free time I love painting canvas art.
Best mom hack that makes life easier?
Toy Rotations! I keep most of the toys in a closet, and have a few out in his toy bins. We rotate them every month or so and he always gets super excited to see the toys he has not played with in a while!
Have you always had a gift in baking? When did you notice you loved doing it?
I have always loved baking and cooking. As a child I started off using box mixes and premade frostings. As I went into college, I began to explore making each component from scratch and got hooked!
Tell us about your business and what makes you unique in the dessert space?
Decadence by Lubna is my business and we cater to the entire Houston Area. We make a huge variety of treats such as cupcakes, decorated custom cookies, bundt cakes, custom cakes etc.
We specialize in Fusion Desserts, which makes my business unique. What are Fusion Desserts? I combine popular Indian/Pakistani Desserts with American Treats and create unique flavors and desserts. These items are usually my Best Sellers!
Favorite thing you offer to customers?
Knafeh is my personal favorite dessert and it is my favorite thing to make for my customers! Knafeh is a traditional Middle Eastern dessert made with shredded phyllo called Kataifi, is soaked in a sweet, sugar-based scented syrup , and is filled with a combination of creamy and stretchy cheese. It’s topped with ground pistachios and additional syrup on the side! It’s eaten warm so that the cheese inside melts, absolute heaven!
Favorite part about what you do?
I love being a part of special celebrations and occasions by creating desserts for families to gather around and celebrate with. Seeing stories and posts on social media of my customers enjoying my desserts on their special occasions is a wonderful feeling.
What are the events you do desserts for? (weddings, birthdays, etc.?
Any occasion you can think of! We do not yet take orders for large weddings such as over 80-100 people, but we hope to in the future!
We have made treats for birthdays, bridal showers, baby showers, birth announcements, weddings, engagements, and more!
What would you tell the old “You” before you had kids?
To not sweat the small stuff such as screen time, making baby food from scratch and wanting to do everything “by the book”. Just go with the flow and do what you feel is best for you and your child.

Most popular thing you bake?
Gulab Jamun Cheesecake is our Best Seller. Gulab Jamuns are round, ball shaped treats made of fried milk-solids based dough, which are then soaked in syrup. Our cheesecake has the texture and creaminess of a traditional cheesecake, with notes of Rose Flavor, and filled and topped with Gulab Jamuns.
