Meet a Mom: Terra Adams | Katy Moms

Today we’re featuring content creator, influencer, entrepreneur, author, and online boutique owner Terra Adams. We met Terra back in 2019 in the early years of this platform and we knew she was something special.

She was kind, encouraging, and inspiring and it’s been such a treat to watch her grow her brand, her platform, as well as launch into new endeavors.

Terra is the CEO and Owner behind Widdle Toes, an online boutique for women and children, is a Co-Owner of Sprinkle Your Lawn, and a published children’s book author. Above everything her platform on IG is beautifully curated and we love her content creation. We follow her for her fashion, fun things to do in Houston, and of course her beautiful family.

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the Katy area?

I was born in Houston and currently live in Manvel. That’s about 20 miles from Katy.

You’re a mama! How many kiddos do you have and what are their ages?

-I have 3 children! Alicia 19, Penelope 6 and Blaise 3.

What’s the biggest gift about being a mom?

-My greatest gift about being a mom is watching them grow into the perfect people they want to be.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

-One thing that people would be surprised to know about me is that I was a teen mom. I had my daughter when I was 16 years old in High school. I was scared but had a village of great people eager to support my endeavors.

Favorite local things to do in the Houston area?

-My favorite local thing to do in Houston is to explore all of the eateries in the city. Houston is so diverse with its food pallet, which allows me and my friends to enjoy the town every weekend. A new spot in Houston where you can enjoy a taste of each continent is Post HTX. Located in the historic district, it allows you to see the astounding view of Houston’s Downtown right on its rooftop.

What is your go-to activity for yourself for pampering or for fun?

-I love love love a great massage. Not your average massage height 30-minute massage. I love to have an all-inclusive experience. It’s typically accompanied by wine, light bites, and a dip in the pool before a relaxing massage.

Best mom hack that makes life easier?

-My best mom hack has to be keeping my children on the same eating and sleeping schedule. Usually, if one child is exhausted, we lay them both down. This way we are not left overwhelmed, my husband would say were understaffed and underpaid. The same for eating, if they want a quick snack they will enjoy it together. This allows us to keep up with their excessive eating or lack thereof.

You’re a blogger, content creator, and entrepreneur! When did you take the leap into blogging and what’s the journey been like?

-At a young age, I knew I wanted to somewhat follow in the footsteps of success, but my leap came from having my second daughter. I knew I was something different, as beating all odds- and letting my light shine in every room I entered. My brand was inspired by my kiddos. My motto is Inspired by infants and motivated by moms. The journey has been almost six years of days of many sales and others of just a few. Through it all, I remain consistent and diligent.

Not only do you have a successful platform, you’re also the CEO of Widdle Toes and COO of Sprinkle My Yard- tell us about these!

-Widdle Toes is a mommy and me boutique store catered to building bonds through fashion. I had no time and no money. With my husband being our only source of income, let’s say our budget was on a budget. The idea for “Widdle” WiddleToes originated from a sketch done by my oldest daughter, Alicia. This process was not an overnight dream, it took years of planning with many trials and errors.

What’s one thing that makes your mommy and me boutique unique?

-Knowing that my life was finally turning into a magical moment, creating Widdle Toes was the origin of my uniqueness. Yes, I have cute clothes and make a profit, but the experience is what I live for. Widdle Toes is a unisex mommy and my brand, but I specialize in building bonds.

How important is it for you to have an identity outside of being a wife and mom?

– It’s very important to be more than just a mom and wife. This is for every woman around the world. I beat every status quo that was told for any minority and showed that it was possible for any person of color, to reach their dreams. My life at one point became a fight or flight outlook and I knew then I had to fight against every boundary that might hinder me from who I want to be in the future, not only for myself, but for other teen moms, kids, mothers, and human beings of color. With that being said, allow yourself to embrace all of yourself at every level.

What are your future plans and dreams for the team_terra platform?

I plan on picking up where I first began, hosting women empowerment events in and around the Houston area. I also plan to create more streams of income and content with new business adventures.

Best beauty advice for moms wanting to blast off into entrepreneurship?

– A lot of moms that go into entrepreneurship have this misconception that things will be green, I would stay true to the reason you started the business. This might be the craziest roller coaster of your life. Remember the ones who quit are the only ones who fail.

Best advice for working moms who experience the inevitable and dreaded MOM GUILT?

I understand the mom guilt but through it all, you have to do what’s best for your family. It’s all temporary feelings that can elevate your life in the long run. Remember to show your children love, and compassion, and be there for them when they need you the most.

How do you balance it all?

– I go into every passion with a purpose, make a schedule, and do it all while being scared. Give yourself grace and self-care. This is all for my legacy, this is what remains to keep my balance.

What would you tell the old “You” before you had kids?

-What I would tell the old me to never make the same mistake twice and Networking is so important. Allow yourself to use your voice to be heard. My mom always told me that closed mouths don’t get fed. So I most definitely took that and ran with it. These two things will take you far in life and be kind to people.
