Allison McCarthy is the mama behind Zoom Drain in Katy, Texas, which we recently had the pleasure of working with on a stubborn drain in our side yard! This team was fast, efficient, knowledgeable, and so kind! Their technology was so impressive and we got our drain draining again!
We love learning about mama owned businesses here in Katy and wanted to share this great local business with all of you, as well as highlight Allison, who along with her husband, are building this business!
Allison, originally from Louisiana, was a certified court reporter in Texas before becoming a business owner! Her entrepreneurial spirit is evident from her successful ten-year stint managing her stenography business, where she excelled in transcribing depositions and captioning in academic settings.
Allison is also mama to three young children and her and her husband Patrick have called Katy home since 2017.
Allison says she was drawn to the sewer and drain business, recognizing the perpetual demand for such essential services. The vision for Zoom Drain is centered around exceptional customer service. They aspire to make every interaction with their technicians a positive experience, emphasizing politeness and understanding.

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the Katy area?
I have lived in Louisiana most of my life, and I came to Katy in 2017.
How many kids do you have and how old are they?
I have three wonderful kids, a 6-year-old girl, a 4-year-old boy, and a 16-month-old boy.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…I was once on Wheel of Fortune!
Favorite local things to do in the Katy area?
I love spending time with my kids and family. I also enjoy the networking events specific to local Katy women.
Give us your best mom hack that makes life easier.
Prioritizing self-care and carving out time for yourself, whether it’s taking a long bath, taking a nap or going for a walk. A well-rested and rejuvenated mom is better equipped to handle the demands of parenting.

What’s your backstory? What did you do before launching your business? Before launching Zoom Drain, I worked as a certified court reporter for 8 years!
Best advice for mamas wanting to launch into entrepreneurship?
Surround yourself with a supportive network of family, friends, mentors, and fellow entrepreneurs who can offer guidance, encouragement and practical assistance as you launch and grow your business. Don’t hesitate to lean on them for support when needed.
Future plans and hopes for your business?
We hope to expand by adding more service trucks and territories in the near future.

The best part of being a mom is having a deep connection that fills your heart with joy, purpose, and fulfillment.
