Meet a Mom: Krishna Coleman, Genesis Back & Neck Katy - Katy Moms
Meet Krishna Coleman, the Local Mama Behind Falcon Point Chiropractic & Genesis Back & Neck | Katy

If you’ve been following along with us on socials, you know just how much Genesis Back & Neck & Falcon Point Chiropractic are changing my life. I have suffered from chronic back pain and bulging/herniated discs since early 2017 and it’s some of the worst pain I’ve ever experienced. I’ve tried everything from injections, steroid shots, various chiro care, medication, physical therapy, you name it. As a one last ditch effort before surgery, I stumbled upon these guys. Since January 2025, I have put my back health first and with their help and guidance, and the incredible machine they have for decompression therapy, I am almost pain free. Only 20 sessions in.

They use the DRX9000 Spinal Decompression System which is proven to ‘un-bulge’ and ‘un-herniate’ discs without surgery. This machine has been helping people avoid disc surgery for over 17 years. This is not your average decompression machine, it allows for precise targeting of the discs giving you pain. The only other office with this machine in the Houston area is in Friendswood. We are so lucky to have access to this technology, right here in Katy!

This practice is run by Dr. Brian Riggs and his amazing wife Krishna Coleman, who both have such a passion for helping people of our community feel their best. From the moment I walked in their doors a few months ago, I knew I was in good hands and going to be taken care of. In healthcare, trust is the most important thing and they had mine from the start.

We were honored to interview Krishna to talk all things mom life, her favorite things about Katy, and all about their business that’s changing people’s lives, right here in Katy.

Where are you from originally and how long have you been in Katy?

I’m originally from Huntsville, TX (Go Bearkats) and have lived in Katy for about 5 years.

You’re a mama! Tell us about your sweet son!

My little guy, Maverick, is 7 years old & in second grade in KISD. He’s a blonde hair, blue eyed sweet soul who’s into taekwondo & playing every Ipad game he can.

Best part of motherhood for you?

I think there are wonderful things about each stage of motherhood. Currently, I’m holding onto  every snuggle, as I know he’ll be too cool for that soon. He recently lost both from teeth, so I’m loving his adorable toothless grin, hearing about his day, listening to him read & sing and my mama heart bursts with pride when someone brags on my little guy.

Hardest part about motherhood for you?

The hardest part for me is hearing how mean kids can be to one another! It’s heartbreaking to hear about a bullying incident or when a friend isn’t being kind. I want to rush in & fix it but I know providing the tools he needs to handle life’s challenges will take him further.

Something people would be surprised to know…

Brian & I lived in Amsterdam for 4 years and it was amazing! Amsterdam is a beautiful & charming city, full of history and people from all over the world. While we were there, we traveled around Europe and got to see so many wonderful places. Our son was actually born in Amsterdam! Motherhood is quite different in The Netherlands. For example, pregnancy is monitored by midwives unless it’s a high risk, many mamas still give birth at home, C Section rate is only 15% & every new mama has a postpartum nurse for a week after birth. It was divine!

Favorite local things to go in the Katy area for fun?

We love all the fun parks & green spaces in Katy. During the Summer we hit the pool (a lot), we also like to eat out on the weekends. I love having so many great restaurants right here in Katy!

Best mom hack that’s made your life a little easier…

Hands down, HEB Curbside pickup & DoorDash! Ha!

Also, we’ve moved a lot, so I have several moving/packing hacks. A few of my faves would be using trashbags for clothes on hangers & color coding boxes with Post Its & the room they belong in at your new house.

OK, let’s talk business! Tell us a bit about Falcon Point Chiropractic and Genesis Back & Neck Katy!

We combine compassionate care with the latest technology to provide our community with a personalized, effective healthcare experience.

Falcon Point Chiropractic is the chiropractic aspect of our family owned business focusing on our patients overall wellness via manual adjustments, dry needling & myofascial release, which we call “soft tissue work”.

Genesis Back & Neck Katy is the spinal decompression aspect of our practice. We use DRX 9000 targeted spinal decompression machines to effectively treat bulging & herniated discs in the back & neck without surgery, medication or injections.

Both are located in the same suite in the Pink Oak area of Katy, on Westheimer Parkway about 1 mile south of Katy Mills Mall.

What are the key differences that set your business apart in the health and wellness space?

I think there are several differences which set us apart in the health & wellness space. We’re a family owned practice & we want our patients to feel like family when they’re here, so our goal is to provide a warm & welcoming environment with effective therapies to help them feel their best & achieve their goals.

For 19 years, chiropractor Brian Riggs has treated patients and trained providers in the US and throughout Europe. He’s spent nearly 2 decades honing his skills & curating the most effective therapies to provide a holistic approach to helping our patients feel & move better.

Our DRX 9000 spinal decompression machines are very unique & highly customizable, so we can specifically target the particular discs causing pain & symptoms. They are very comfortable as well, in fact many patients fall asleep during their treatment because it’s the only time they feel relief. Using DRX 9000, the Genesis Back & Neck protocol has treated 60,000 patients over the past 17yrs with a 90% success rate nationwide. We are proud to be able to offer this treatment to Katy & surrounding areas, the only other Genesis Back & Neck clinics in the area are Friendswood & Beaumont.

When did you launch this location and what’s been the biggest blessing in it all?

We launched this location in early December 2024 and the biggest blessing is being able to change our patients’ lives by helping them get out of pain!

You have an extensive background in patient care, can you talk about some of the roles you’ve had in the wellness space and how its prepared you for your role now at Genesis Back & Neck?

I love helping others, so I’ve been in the healthcare space for most of my adult life. I fell in love with helping patients feel better about themselves by looking better when I worked in Orthodontics many years ago. I witnessed personalities transform and confidence blossom as we created beautiful smiles. It definitely sparked my passion for helping patients achieve their goals.

After that, I developed many valuable skills & learned a ton about cosmetic dermatology & practice management at Suzanne Bruce & Associates in the Galleria area. My time at SBA provided the skills & experience needed to become a plastic surgery Patient Coordinator for Dr. Erica Bartlett, an amazing surgeon & person! Serving as a guide & resource for patients while holding their hand throughout their plastic surgery journey was incredibly rewarding for me. Witnessing beautiful Mommy Makeover results & post weight-loss excess skin removal transformations were some of the highlights of my career in plastics.

I believe each of my previous roles helped prepare me for practice operation & ownership. There are many similarities in practice & patient management, communication, organizational & administrative skills that translate to all areas of healthcare. Now that I’m on the wellness side of healthcare, I love helping patients feel better physically. Seeing them in less pain with each visit & hearing their beautiful stories about how our work allows them to enjoy their lives again truly feeds my soul.

Can you talk about some of the beautiful success stories you and your husband have seen?

I’ve always known my husband is a gifted chiropractor but seeing him in action with our patients on a daily basis gives me a new appreciation for his talent. Many patients come to us feeling depressed & defeated because they’ve tried it all: meds, injections, physical therapy, nerve ablations and invasive spinal surgery but are STILL in pain! Many of the recommendations they’ve received do not address the problem, but only mask symptoms or provide temporary relief. Once they learn non-invasive spinal decompression can treat the cause of their discomfort and actually heal it, they are optimistic. After a few treatments, we see patients walking in without canes and walking upright again, able to get back to daily life, exercising, lifting their kids & grandkids again without discomfort. I’m a words of affirmation gal, so my favorite is receiving beautiful reviews & hearing patients tell us how much better they feel & how these treatments have changed their lives. So rewarding!

For moms struggling with pain, but who also have a hard time prioritizing their wellness journey, what advice would you give them?

I’m a mom so I know firsthand how we put everyone else’s needs before our own. It’s what we do for the people we love, but it’s so important to know that we show up so much better for our family when we prioritize our wellness. It’s cliche but true that you cannot pour from an empty cup and your family deserves a healthy mama. I strongly believe, when our children see us prioritizing selfcare, it will create healthy habits for them to do the same. Make.the.time. mama – you will not regret it!
