You know we love a good Meet a Mom interview over here, but we thought it would be a cool switch up to showcase a great, local DAD! And who better to shine the spotlight on than the man I credit for saving me from back surgery, Dr. Brian Riggs of Genesis Back & Neck right here in Katy!
Brian is a local dad and devoted husband and truly cares for his patients, their well being, and making sure they hit their goals with living pain free. I credit this business with keeping me off the operating table and introducing me to decompression therapy as a long term solution. Anyone who walks in the doors of their business gets treated like family. You can feel the trust and care and that he truly wants you to succeed and live pain free.
This is not a band-aid operation – there is a science behind it and if you follow us on social media, you know it works! I walked into them hunched over in January 2025 and here we are in November and I was doing cartwheels with my kids just last night. I want this freedom for everyone and so does Dr. Riggs.

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the Katy area?
Poughkeepsie NY and we moved back to Katy 5 years ago.
You are a dad of one awesome son, what’s been the greatest blessing in being a father?
As parents we all need some reassurance every so often, so hearing Maverick use his manners or be polite or manage something stressful makes me feel we’re raising a productive gentleman who will be a contribution to society.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I’m an introvert with an extrovert’s career. My socially busy weeks lead to surprisingly quiet weekends mostly centered around family time.
Favorite local things to do in the Katy area?
Getting my dues worth at LifeTime Fitness or dragging my son Maverick to a driving range for some guy’s time.
Favorite local restaurants?
Anything on doordash, but especially love Midway BBQ (thanks to y’all), Masala Wok, Local Table, and Daddy Os are always in our rotation!
Give us your best dad hack that makes your life easier…
Being hard on ourselves doesn’t make parenting easier so my “hack” is self reflection with some grace sprinkled in. As much as our kids we are also learning and growing and can’t expect perfection from ourselves.
How did you get your start in the chiropractic space and how did you know this was your passion?
I had been accepted to a PsyD program in NY but a neck injury changed my trajectory so I pivoted careers and started chiropractic school instead. Chiropractic felt right-it’s about being an asset to the community, problem solving, and I get to hear “thank you” a lot which is important to me.
Speak to the mom who is nervous or skeptical of chiro care and how life changing it can be.
Healthy skepticism is important so listen to your gut and find someone who can answer your questions, make you feel heard, and provides you with the healthcare experience you find valuable. Chiropractic offices are like sandwich shops-similar yet different. So go out and find your Potbelly’s or Jimmy John’s or Firehouse Subs if you aren’t happy with your current provider!
Now let’s chat Genesis Back & Neck! Tell the moms a bit about the science behind why it works!
The discs in between our spine bones are like parents-we can only handle so much pressure and stress at a time. With that being said even they (much like we) have a breaking point where too much is too much. So our DRX tables are like a spa day to unload those discs to allow them to decompress and heal-something they don’t do a good job of doing on their own.
What drew you to Genesis and wanting to bring this kind of care to Katy?
Genesis is a community of family-focused chiropractors utilizing the most researched and proven DRX-9000, so once I was invited into their family it was a no-brainer. There’s a lot of Katy looking to heal naturally and avoid surgery and we do the best we can to fill that healthcare need.
Who is your perfect patient?
I love patients who ask good questions and who are involved in their care- patients who have goals and dreams and successes that we can share together.
Best advice for mamas wanting to get back to the things they love and hope to live pain free?
Anything done well (like parenting ) takes time, and getting back to those things you love can be a grind at times so stop every so often and look at where you started and don’t focus on how far you have to go.
What can people expect from their first appointment with you?
We’re sincere, genuine, and committed to doing everything we can to help our patients, and I hope our patients can feel that.
Biggest blessing in starting this business in Katy, TX?
It has both established and growing neighborhoods, a diverse and growing economy, and an international population.
Future plans and hopes for your business?
We grow one patient at a time so that’s my focus-organic growth is IMO more sustainable. Plans are to be inside the loop in 2026, but for right now I’m spoiled keeping to my little bubble right here in Katy.
