What is spinal decompression therapy and why does it work? Well, it is a non-surgical, motorized mechanical traction that gently stretches the spine. It relieves chronic back and neck pain by creating negative pressure inside spinal discs, which allows bulging or herniated discs to retract, takes pressure off pinched nerves, and promotes healing.
This type of therapy addresses the root cause of nerve pain (like sciatica) through a highly controlled, precise mechanical process:Gentle Stretching: You lie fully clothed on a specialized motorized table, where you are fitted with a harness around your pelvis and trunk. The table, operated by a therapist, slowly pulls and releases in calculated cycles. This intermittent pulling prevents your back muscles from locking up or spasming. By increasing the space between vertebrae, decompression creates a vacuum effect (negative pressure) inside the affected disc.
